Why Democrats Are Scared Of Benghazi?

On September 11, 2012, the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya was attacked and 4 Americans – including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens – were killed. This was a tragedy. However, what has made the situation even worse is the way Democrats have acted in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Immediately following the attacks, White House officials began promoting the idea that the attack was spontaneous and a direct consequence of an “offensive video on YouTube”.

This idea was promoted despite the fact that the intelligence community never mentioned the video as a reason for the attack, and instead recognized the incident for what it was: a planned attack on a United States military target. With the Presidential Election so close, and with one of President Obama’s campaign planks being based on the fact that terrorists were on the run, the details surrounding the incident are suspicious.

White House Stonewalls Republicans

The suspicion surrounding Benghazi become only more significant when the White House refused to reveal documents pertaining to the events that occurred on September 11th, 2012.

Since that time, Republicans have done everything they could to have documents released, while President Obama, Democrats, and their attack dogs in the media have done everything possible to delegitimize the issue and argue that Republicans were simply on a witch hunt.

Benghazi Is Not a Witch Hunt

Despite Democrat complaints to the contrary, Benghazi is significant for a number of reasons. First of all, President Obama has still refused to release where he was and what he was doing during the 8 hour attack on the embassy, according to a report in the Washington Post.

According to some reports, it is possible that President Obama was even engaged in Presidential campaign meetings while the attack was occurring. While 2 of the 4 Americans were killed early on in the attack, the remaining two did not die until the 8 hour attack was over. Is it possible that President Obama let two Americans die for the sake of a campaign meeting?

It also appears as though the embassy in Benghazi had requested additional military support in the weeks leading up to the attack. The region was in the midst of a civil war, and the American embassy was one of the only structures of its type still active.

In addition, it appears as though American military assets were available and less than 4 hours away, yet they were called off. Why did Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or President Obama not send those military assets, and why did they not ask any allies to send reinforcements either?

Democrats Should Be Scared

With the release of damning emails through a Freedom of Information Act court ruling obtained by Judicial Watch, the House of Representatives has decided to create a select committee on Benghazi.

Despite Democrats already calling it a “kangaroo court” before the committee has even been created, the information revealed could be very damaging to Democrats.

Not only is President Obama potentially under fire for neglecting his responsibilities as Commander-in-Chief, but his Secretary of State at the time, Hillary Clinton, is likely to be the Democrat successor to President Obama. If the select committee goes poorly, Democrats could lose not one, but two of their most powerful and influential President-level figures in one swift blow.
